Background information is provided about the Sphinx Preparatory Music Institute and Sphinx Overture programs hosted by Wayne State University's Department of Music. Enrollment is open for the 2006-2007 academic year as Sphinx Prep enters its third year, offering classes to Metro Detroit students in music history and instrumental performance. This will be the first year for Sphinx Overture which offers beginner-level Suzuki style group lessons and subsidized private instruction in violin performance to youth ages 11-13.
